This mountain Cabernet comes from one of Napa’s premiere growing regions high in the Vaca Mountains east of St. Helena, and is best served after an hour in a decanter. The mountain soil, rich in volcanic ash, imparts strong, mineral-laden aromas of tobacco and clay reminiscent of eastern Pomerol. This is a full-bodied Cab with concentrated flavors of plummy blackberry and black currant. Silky, well-restrained tannins contribute to the lush mouth feel while maintaining the firm underlying structure needed for long term aging. The lengthy finish unveils complex notes of clove, cocoa and sandalwood.

Pritchard Hill region east of Oakville Cross road, wineries of note on Pritchard Hill:  Dalla Valle. Bryant Family, Chappellet, Colgin, Continuum, and David Arthur. This is what all these wines have in common. Soaring aromatics, concentrated black fruits and huge subterranean tannins.  Wines that are dark and powerful and need some heavy breathing.
